CUH&H Summer Round Up: Women’s Squad

Su-Min Lee | Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

With no sign of mud and cross-country throughout a hot and dry summer, Hareys took to the track, road and hills. To say there were a fair few PBs would be a considerable understatement. I’ve listed as many of the current squad’s PBs down below as I could find, but let me know if I’ve missed you out (or there’s a mistake in the results)!

BUCS Athletics saw Emily Ruane finish eighth overall (winning the B heat in 17:09.45), with multiple Hareys making the semi-finals. Nancy Scott was second in the England u20 Championships over the 3000m steeplechase, with Emily, Rachel Longstaff and Niamh Bridson Hubbard fourth, sixth and seventh in the u23 5000m race – the summer saw six Hareys break into the top 100 in the UK rankings over 5000. Away from the track, Fiona Bunn represented Great Britain at the Junior World Orienteering Championships, while Lizzy Apsley finished eighth at the senior British Mountain Running Championships. Recent alumnae such as Katy Hedgethorne and Sarah Lovewell were in fine PB form over the summer, with their most notable performance being a 16:28.72 and 16:33.79 (respectively) 5000 at the Loughborough BMC Grand Prix.
