Cuppers 2025

Cuppers. St Neots. 16th November 2025. And what a day it was.

Despite a whole 50mm of rain being gifted to us from the gods on Friday, the St Neots course remained firm underfoot to provide fast racing conditions for the CUH&H selection race for Varsity.

The day got underway with the women’s race. 2 laps of Priory park (5.6km) on the menu for perhaps the largest field the Hare & Hounds has ever assembled. After being inspired by the startline words from reigning Cuppers winner dame Niamh B-H (PhD, GB), Aimi Weightman shot to the front and built a healthy lead to take a commanding victory. In second was Beth ‘Sand’ Rogers followed by new recruit Sophie Rashid-Cocker to complete the podium.

Next up were the men, who had 4 laps (10.3km) to contend with. Proceedings began with a leisurely start before Terry Fawden laid down the gauntlet going into the first trip around the dogleg - “I wanted to make them hurt” he said after the race. Hurt they did, but not enough to prevent Ewan Spencer and Cameron Deverill chasing Mr (soon Dr) Fawden down in the latter stages of the race. Ewan clinched the victory in the sprint to the line, with Terry second and Cammy D third.
